Mr. Sturtz was my teacher at Prairie Home School from 2nd through 6th grades. He taught all 8 classes by himself in a one room school house. Edgar was an extraordinary man! Always patient, inspirational, positive, encouraging, and fun. He was such an important person in my life and I will never forget him! His wife Grace was my piano teacher, a truly kind woman.
I'm so thankful I let him know over the years what a wonderful impact he had on me. There were many teachers in my life, but no one matched Edgar Sturtz. I love him dearly and consider him one of God's greatest He put on earth.
My condolences to his children and their families. May they be comforted by the wealth of memories with such a special man. Peace be with you all.

Ed Sturtz was a wonderful, witty, unusual, and wonderfully eccentric teacher. I have him to thank for my life long appreciation of art. Although I graduated over 34 years ago, some of the stories from my time in Ed's art room (which was a lot of time!) cross my mind to this day and always make me laugh. He will be missed; my sympathy to his loved ones and his many friends.

I had ED as a teacher three years starting in "87". I came from Great Bend and when I first ED I knew me and him was going to get along fine. I loved the way he taught his class and I really loved the way the room was set up and all the interesting things he had in there. I seen him at the car wash a few times and I'm really gonna miss him and his concord carp.

Never had more fun in a High school class than I did in Mr. Sturtz's Art class. Loved screen printing the most. Learned so much and never a dull moment! You never knew if you were walking out of class with paint all over or pottery mud in your hair. He will surely be missed by many. Prayers to the family.

I was one of the art students in Ed's 1st class at Ellinwood High School. He inspired me to become an art teacher. I would never have chosen this path with out his patient and loving instruction. We had a wonderful time in his classes. I remember painting murals for the prom during the evening hours as Mr. Sturtz was our class sponsor. None of knew what we were doing but we did it anyway and it was wonderful.
Ed was probably one of the most important people in my life. He will be missed.
