Wayne L. Cooper

Lucas, KS 

Wayne L Cooper was called home to be with the Lord on January 20, 2016. Wayne was born on February 6^th, 1922 at his parent’s home to Samuel and Minnie (Strecker) Cooper. He grew up South of Lucas in the area that is now the Wilson Lake. He attended country school for 8 years and then graduated from Lucas High School. After graduating High School he devoted his life to farming. Wayne enjoyed being outside and for many years ran a dairy farm while also farming.

Wayne was united in marriage to Mary Baral on April 27, 1972 in Lincoln, Kansas. This union was blessed with a daughter Nancy.  They made their home on a farm in the Lucas area until recently moving to Ellinwood in May of 2015.

Wayne was a proud member of the Blue Hill Lodge#198 for 74 years.  He served on the Lucas Co-op board and the Luray Township Board for many years.

Surviving family includes wife Mary of the home, daughter Nancy and her husband Kris, grandchildren Bailey & Kaden Baird, all of Ellinwood.  Brother  & Sister in Law, Richard & Betty Brozek of Lucas. He was also blessed by loving nieces & nephews, cousins, and close friends.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday January 23 at 2pm at the Lucas Cemetery- grave side service only.  No visitation is being held. Memorials have been established to Lucas Area Theatre in care of Minnis Chapel, PO Box 246, Ellinwood, KS 67526.
