Viola Ann Komarek passed away Saturday, March 8, 2014, in Topeka, Kansas.

Vi was born January 6, 1920 in Kansas City, KS, to Homer F. McCready and Minta M. (Pierce) McCready. She moved with her parents to Florence, KS in 1926, graduated from Florence High School in 1941 (National Honor Society) and moved to Kansas City where she worked in the office at Folgers Coffee Co. Vi married Norman Frank Komarek of Ellinwood, KS on Dec.2, 1945 in Emporia, Kansas. They moved Sterling, Kansas (13 yrs), then to Ellinwood in 1958. She worked for Ellinwood District Hospital for 18 yrs as a medical records clerk, retiring in 1984.  Vi’s interests included being a 75 yr member and Past Worthy Matron of the Queen Esther Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star; a member of Immanuel UCC church where she served on the church council and as records clerk and she was a cub scout den mother for several years. Survivors include two sons Paul Norman Komarek (Annette) of Atchison, KS, and Kim Kent Komarek (Diana) of Topeka, KS, granddaughter, Katie Wallace (Casey) and great grandson, Castle Kent Wallace. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

Funeral Service will be Tues Mar 11, 11:00 AM at Minnis Chapel in Ellinwood with Pastor Debbie Rains presiding. Burial will follow at Lakin-Comanche District Cemetery in Ellinwood. Memorials may be given to UCC Church or Order of Eastern Star in care of Minnis Chapel, PO Box 246, Ellinwood, KS 67526.
