Theresa A. (Apel) Wornkey

Theresa A. Wornkey, 81, died July 6, 2014 at Memorial Hospital in Joplin, MO. Theresa was born January 12, 1933 in Ellinwood, KS to Matt and Barbara (Hiney) Apel. She married Jim Wornkey on April 9, 1953 in Ellinwood. Theresa was a member of the Daughters of Isabella. She was a 15 year resident of Wyandotte, OK where she enjoyed her retired years with her husband of over 60 years. Theresa was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother and will be deeply missed by all who were touched by her life.

She is survived by husband, Jim Wornkey, Wyandotte, OK ; sons, Mark (Debbie) Wornkey, Hatboro, PA, Brian (Christie) Wornkey, Newcastle, WY, Chris (LuAnn) Wornkey, Hutchinson, KS; daughters, Kim (Gary) VanDusen, Wichita, KS, Leah Beale, Wichita, KS; brothers, Harry Apel, Augusta, KS, Norman Apel, Great Bend, Ks; sisters, Sally Sigley, Augusta, KS, Mary Jane Miller, Great Bend, KS; 15 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren. Theresa was preceded in death by her parents, Matt & Barbara Apel; grandparents, Matt & Agnes Hiney; brothers, LeRoy & Pierre Apel; son-in-law, Art Beale.

Funeral service/rosary will be Fri July 11, 2014 at 10:30 am at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Ellinwood with Fr. John Forkuoh presiding. Burial will follow at Lakin-Comanche District Cemetery in Ellinwood. Visitation will be Thurs July 10^th from 1-6 pm at Minnis Chapel in Ellinwood.
