Stephen Francis Hammersmith, 70, passed away at Olathe Medical Center on Dec. 21st, 2022. Born on Oct. 23rd, 1952 to parents Eugene & Thecla (Graf) Hammersmith Steve was a 30 year resident of Olathe formerly of Ellinwood and Ness City, KS.

 Stephen married Lois Woolery on Dec. 29, 1979 in Kansas City, KS. Stephen and Lois were blessed with 40 years together where they loved traveling, spending time with family, & cheering for the Royals and Chiefs. He worked at L.G. Barcus & Sons as a purchasing/transport manager he retired in 2021. Stephen and his family lost their beloved Lois exactly 3 years ago Dec. 21st, 2019.

Survivors include daughter, Liberty Calangelo (Sid), Joplin, MO; grandsons, Christopher Williams, Kansas City, KS and (US Navy) E5 Bryan Williams (Courtney Wheeler), Jacksonville, FL; great granddaughter, Cordelia Lois Williams. Additional survivors include sister, Patricia Collins (Leasil Orndoff); Brothers, Terry (Alice) Hammersmith and Eugene (Sandi) Hammersmith, and Kenny (Mary) Hammersmith. Stephen was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Lois Hammersmith; son, Stephen (Little Steve) Hammersmith (1981); sisters, Barbara Guzman and Janice Wolfkill.

Funeral mass will take place 1:00 pm, Wed., Dec. 28th at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Rosary/visitation will take place Tues., Dec. 27th from 5-7 PM at Minnis Chapel in Ellinwood, KS. Direct all flowers to the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to American Cancer Society or American Diabetes Association in care of Minnis Chapel, 113 N. Main, Ellinwood, KS 67526.
