Rheinard Schwartz

Rheinard Schwartz, 86, passed away on September 11, 2016 at his home near Chase, Kansas. He was born on November 4, 1929 to William and Martha (Blasi) Schwartz.  On August 4, 1953 he was united in marriage to Joan Henning in Willowdale, Kansas.  He was a member of the US Army serving during the Korean War.  He was a member of the American Legion, St. Josepth Catholic Church, loved to play pitch and Texas hold ‘em. Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Joan Schwartz of the home; Children, Rodney Schwartz, Curtis Schwartz (Salina), Florinda Standlee, Anita Christianson (Max), Shirley Schwartz (Kim Maser), Janice Simmons (Jim), Renee Kasselman (Patrick); Siblings, Maurice Schwartz, Edith Keller, Rosalyn Henning, 18 Grandchildren; 7 Great-Grandchildren; many nieces and nephews, other relatives, and a host of friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Jason Schwartz, sisters, Lydia Weber, Salma Gregg, and Marci Suchy.  Funeral Mass will be 10:00 am, Friday, September 16, 2016, at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Father Terrance Klein presiding. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery, Great Bend, Kansas. Visitation will be from 1pm-6pm, Thursday, September 15, at Minnis Chapel, with rosary and vigil services at 7pm at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Ellinwood.
