Phyllis Joan (Renfro) Reifschneider

Phyllis Joan (Renfro) Reifschneider was born on Aug. 17, 1937 in Russell, KS to parents Tom and Wilma (Clothier) Renfro. She started school in Wichita, KS before moving to Ellinwood, KS where she graduated in 1955. Later she began working for American State Bank where she worked for several years. This is where she met Gerald Reifschneider. After their marriage Dec. 7, 1958 they moved to Garden City, KS where she worked at Fidelity State Bank before moving back to Great Bend, KS where she worked at Central KS Medical Center, Laboratory and as a courier for 17 years. She also attended Barton Co. Community College. Phyllis owned and operated a flower shop for 13 years before retiring to Hutchinson, KS. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and former member of Sigma Phi Sorority.

Survivors include sons, Jon (Marilyn) Reifschneider , Arlington, KS and Tom (Natasha) Reifschneider, Fort Scott, KS; daughter, Lori Ann Reifschneider, Hutchinson, KS; sister, Von Apel; brother, John Renfro. Other survivors include 7 grandchildren, Paul, Elizabeth, Michael, Micah, Christian, Tyler and Dillon, 4 great grandchildren with a 5th arriving soon. Phyllis was preceded in death by husband Gerald who died Feb. 10, 2008 and son Paul David Reifschneider. 

Memorial service will take place at Trinity United Methodist Church 1602 N. Main St., Hutchinson, KS on Sat., Sept. 4th at 10:00 AM. Inurnment will take place at Lakin-Comanche cemetery in Ellinwood, KS following the service. Memorials are suggested to the Dementia Society of America in care of Minnis Chapel, PO Box 246, Ellinwood, KS 67526.
