Orville P. Schartz, 78, passed away at Woodhaven Care Center in Ellinwood, KS on March 11th, 2018. Born on December 11th, 1938 in Great Bend, KS he was the son of Alphons & Caroline (Auchstetter) Schartz. A longtime Ellinwood resident Orville worked as a dairy farmer before serving in the United States Army 11th Airborne from 1957 to 1960. After the service he worked as a pumper for Kincaid Oil Service in Ellinwood, later moving to Kingman where he worked for Mac Energy as a contractor. In March of 1972 he married Judith Lynn Galyardt at the United Methodist Church in Ellinwood.
Orville was preceded in death by his parents; previous wife, Muruth Lair; brothers, Melvern, Cletus, Arden, & Warren Schartz.
Survivors include wife, Judith Schartz; sons, Carl Schartz, Dwayne Schartz, & Todd Schartz; daughters, Margaret Chandler (Jim), Barbie Scheuerman (Merle), Melinda Quintana, Tawaynda Babich, & Tammy Edmondson.
Memorial service is scheduled for 10:30 am, March 24th at the United Methodist Church in Ellinwood with Pastor Tom Reazin officiating. Memorials are suggested as a "Love Gift" to the family in care of Minnis Chapel, PO Box 246, Ellinwood, KS 67526. Condolences may be left at www.minnischapel.org
