Olive M. (Shannon) Schmit

Olive M. Schmit, 96, passed away in Ellinwood, KS on March 20, 2019. Born in Duluth, MN on February 1, 1923 she was the daughter of Joseph L. & Dodie (Bilben) Shannon. Olive grew up in Wisconsin later marrying Robert R. Schmit in Montgomery, AL and raising 4 children. She was involved with the local girl scout chapter, Women’s Club, Trinity Lutheran Church (Kenosha) then moved to Florida in 1984 where she enjoyed her time working at Key Royal Golf Course on Anna Maria Island. She met her good friends Joyce and Missy Rocco.

Survivors include daughters, Susan Kaufman (Lance) Scottsdale, AZ; Sally Baird, Ellinwood, KS; son, Robert C. Schmit, Denver, CO; brother, Jim (Helen) Shannon; sister, Patricia Blanchard; grandchildren, Justin Evans, Jason Kaufman, Lauren Klonaris, Ben Baird, Megan Duncan, and Dustin Whatley. 

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Robert R. Schmit and daughter, Nancy Evans. 

Cremation has taken place. There will be a private family committal at a later date. Condolences to the family may be left at www.minnischapel.org
