Nona Marie (Carson) Leeper-Manning

Nona Marie (Carson) Leeper-Manning, 87, passed away at Medicalodges in Great Bend, KS on Dec. 25th, 2021. Born on Jan. 10th, 1934 in Newalla, OK she was the daughter of Russell A. Carson & Ella Pearl (Smith) Carson. Nona was a Barton Co. resident since 1945 where she graduated from Barton Co. Community College with a Bachelors degree in Nursing.  She married D. Franklin Ratlief on Oct. 2nd, 1951 at Great Bend, KS, later she married Elmer A. Leeper May 24, 1974 he died on Sept. 1983, she then married Carroll W. Manning on Feb 13,1997 he died on Dec. 12th, 2006. 

Nona was an Ellinwood Resident since 1996 formerly of Great Bend, KS. She worked as the Executive secretary for Leben Oil Co., and as an R.N.C. at Woodhaven, CKMC, and Good Shepherd Hospital in Longview, TX. 

Survivors include sons, Darrel Ratlief, Geneseo, KS, Dennis Ratlief, Spring Hill, TN; daughter, Arlinda Ehler, Amarillo, TX; brother, Rusty Carson, Great Bend, KS; step-son, James Leeper, Duncan, OK; 8 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Nona was preceded in death by her parents; and husbands, Elmer A. Leeper, and Carroll (Katy) W. Manning; and brothers, George Carson and Bobby Carson. 

Funeral service will be 10:00 AM, Mon., Jan. 3rd at Immanuel United Church of Christ in Ellinwood. Private interment will take place at a later date at Hillcrest Cemetery in Great Bend, KS. Visitation will take place Sun., Jan. 2nd from 1-5 PM at Minnis Chapel in Ellinwood.  In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to Dream Center Kitchen or Meals on Wheels in care of Minnis Chapel, PO Box 246, Ellinwood, KS 67526.
