Nellie Mae (Ahlgrim) Steadman

Nellie Mae Steadman, 87, passed away at Flint Hills Care facility in Emporia, KS on Dec. 24th, 2023. Born on the family homestead in Ellinwood, KS on Oct. 19 1936,she was the daughter of Henry W. & Lettie A. (Donnelly ) Ahlgrim.  Nellie graduated from Adalah-Hale Business school and Hutchinson Business College and later worked for the Hutchinson Air National Guard. Nellie also worked as a USPS civil servant for 25 years. 

Survivors include daughters: Lanelle McKernan (Pete), Laura Steadman; Son: Brad Steadman (Julie); grandchildren: Andrew Steadman, DDS (Miranda), Bethany Jochum (Alex), Kenneth Steadman, Hannah Steadman; Jaryn Steadman, Kinsley Steadman, Jillian McKernan & Cara McKernan; great-grandchildren: Neill & Colette Steadman, Maggie & Olivia Jochum, and Elijah Pope. Nephews and Nieces: William Dean Ahlgrim (Antonia), Robert Allen Ahlgrim (Lori), Rodney Wayne Ahlgrim (Melissa), Robert Lawrence Ahlgrim (Kathy), Edward Stuckey (Diana), Trudy Shank (Ron), Nancy Straub (Randy); great nieces/nephews: Maria, Susan, Sarah, Tracy, Stacy, Jason, Angela, Shelly, Cassandra, Grace, Rebecca, Olivia, and several great-great nieces/nephews. She was preceded in death by Son: Mark Kenneth Steadman, (twin sister) Millie, (parents), Henry and Lettie, siblings: William Henry Ahlgrim, Betty Kater, and Robert ‘Bob’ Ahlgrim. 

Funeral service will take place 10:00 AM, Tues., Jan. 2nd at Minnis Chapel in Ellinwood with interment following at Lakin-Comanche Cemetery in Ellinwood.. Memorials are suggested to Kansas Humane Society or your favorite animal shelter in care of Minnis Chapel, PO Box 246, Ellinwood, KS 67526.
