Mercedes Marie (Hoffman) Huslig, 81, passed away at the Ellinwood District Hospital on July 16, 2016. She was born on April 17, 1935 in Odin, KS to Michael & Margret (Feltis) Hoffman. She graduated from Great Bend High School in 1953. She later married Arthur Huslig on April 27, 1963 in Great Bend. He survives of the home. Mrs. Huslig was an Ellinwood resident since 1963 where she worked as a housewife and secretary. Her memberships include St. Joseph Church, St. Joseph altar society, Legion of Mary, and volunteered in the Gray Ladies organization. She loved spending time with family especially grandchildren and also enjoyed knitting.

Survivors include husband, Arthur E. Huslig, Ellinwood, KS; son, Eugene G. Huslig & wife Chelle, Manhatten, KS; daughter, Christina D. Befort & husband Steve, Lacrosse, KS; sister, Marcella Flax, Ellis, KS; and grandchildren, Makenzie, Ezekiel, Camille, Rebecca, and Heather. Other survivors include 6 in-laws & spouses.  

She was preceded in death by her parents, 3 children, & sisters, Delores Schneweis, Sister M. Lawrence, & Anna Koester. Other preceded in death include brother-in-laws, Larry Huslig & Ervin & wife Mary Ann Huslig.

Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 AM on Wednesday July 20 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Ellinwood with Father Terrance Klein presiding. Burial will follow at Lakin-Comanche District Cemetery in Ellinwood. Visitation will be at Minnis Chapel in Ellinwood on Tuesday July 19 from 1-6 PM with the Altar Society Rosary at 3 PM at the funeral home. There will be a Vigil Service at St Joseph church also on Tuesday at 7 PM. In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to St. Joseph School Endowment Fund, Ellinwood Fire Department, or Mass Offering in care of Minnis Chapel, PO Box 246, Ellinwood, KS 67526.
