Lowell (Mike) Smith

Lowell (Mike) Smith, 86, passed away at Woodhaven Care Center in Ellinwood, KS on January 22nd, 2018. Born on November 11th, 1931 in Raymond, KS to Francis & Hilda (Rose) Smith, he was a lifetime Raymond area resident where he worked as a Farmer & Rancher and was known to be an avid outdoorsman who always greeted you with a smile. Memberships include St. John’s Lutheran Church in Ellinwood, 20+ years in the NRA, Rice County Chapter of Ducks Unlimited where he was a founding member, and Raymond’s fast Pitch Softball team.  

Survivors include 3 Nephews, Jim (Judy) Loesch, Jerry (Brenda) Loesch, Jeff Loesch; and 1 Niece, Janean (Dave) Hicks. Other survivors include 3 Great Nephews, 3 Great Nieces, 5 Great Great Nieces, 4 Great Great Nephews and many friends.

Funeral Service will be Friday, January 26th at 11:00 AM at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Ellinwood, KS with Rev. Thomas Thierfelder officiating. Interment will follow at Lakin-Comanche Cemetery in Ellinwood. Visitation will be Thursday January 25th from 1-8 PM with family receiving friends from 6-8 PM at Minnis Chapel in Ellinwood. Memorials are suggested to Rice Co. Ducks Unlimited or St. John’s Lutheran Church in care of Minnis Chapel, PO Box 246, Ellinwood, KS 67526. Condolences may be posted at www.minnischapel.org
