Larry N. Rickert

Larry N. Rickert, 84, of Ellinwood, KS passed away surrounded by his loving family on July 28, 2016 in Hutchinson. He was born on Dec. 21, 1931 to John & Elizabeth (Klepper) Rickert near Ellinwood. Larry graduated from Ellinwood High School in 1949.  He later married Lorraine Matza.   She preceded him in death on March 4, 2015.  They settled in Ellinwood where they were residents for 52 years.  His memberships include St. Joseph Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, American Legion, United States Army, Disabled American Veterans, and the VFW for over 60 years. He also served his country in the Korean Conflict.

Survivors include:  sons, David Rickert, Scottsdale, AZ, Fr. John Rickert, FSSP, Omaha, NE, daughters, Christine (Mark) Becker, Hutchinson, KS, Barbara (Jim) Lubbe, Wichita, KS; and a sister, Jeanine Gowdy.  Other survivors include 11 Grandchildren and 15 Great Grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by his brother Keith Rickert, sister in law Dayle Rickert and brother in law Loren Gowdy.   

Funeral Mass will be Tues. Aug. 2^nd at 10:30 am at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Ellinwood with Father Terrance Klein presiding. Burial will follow at Lakin-Comanche District Cemetery in Ellinwood.  There will be no public viewing.  The family will be present at 6:00pm with a Vigil Service and rosary beginning at 7:00 pm at Minnis Chapel in Ellinwood on Mon. Aug. 1^st. Memorials are suggested to St Joseph Catholic Church or Sts Peter and Paul restoration fund in care of Minnis Chapel, 113 North Main, Ellinwood, KS 67526.
