Kathy Ricker Obituary

After a long illness, Kathy Sue (Cross) Ricker, 71, passed away at her home in Great Bend, KS on Feb. 28, 2020. Born in Sterling, KS on September 3rd, 1948 she was the daughter of James William and Mary Alice (Belden) Cross. A lifetime Raymond area resident Kathy graduated from Alden High School in 1966 where she met her high school sweetheart Clyde Steven Ricker. They united in marriage on August 10th, 1968 in Ellinwood, KS. She graduated from Crum’s beauty school in Manhattan, KS on May 26, 1967. Kathy was owner of Moeder Oil Company before retiring in 2016.

Memberships include St. John Lutheran Church and Lutheran Women’s Missionary League. In addition, Kathy was instrumental in starting the children’s library at the church. 

Survivors include son, Mark and wife Amy Ricker, Raymond, KS; brother-in-law, Ronald and wife Nancy Ricker, Raymond, KS; daughter-in-law, Kristen Kirlew, Overland Park, KS; and beloved grandchildren, Collin, Logan, Emma, Devin, Anna, Mason, Ruby & Wyatt. Kathy was preceded in death by her husband Clyde Ricker; son, Ryan Ricker; and sister, Nancy Cross. 

Celebration of life will take place 10:00 AM, Friday, March 6th at St. John Lutheran Church in Ellinwood, KS with Pastor Thomas Thierfelder officiating. Family will receive friends from 6-8 PM on Thursday, March 5th at Minnis Chapel in Ellinwood, KS. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Sons of American Legion Pediatric Fund or St. John Lutheran children’s library in care of Minnis Chapel, PO Box 246, Ellinwood, KS 67526.
