Obituary

FORT COLLINS, Colo. — Josefina Vasquez de Castillo, 78, passed away at Lutheran Hospice Collier in Wheatridge, Colo. on Sept. 18th, 2022. Born on Aug. 10, 1944 in Mexico she was the daughter of Flavio and Rosa (Lujan) Vasquez. She moved to Yuma, Colo. in 1969 later moving to Ellinwood, Kan. in August 1986 and always considered Kansas her home. She was a homemaker a loving wife, mother and grandmother and will be dearly missed. Josefina lost her husband of 56 years on Aug. 23, 2020, and moved to Colorado shortly after due to health concerns. 

Survivors include daughters, Norma (Bill) Rapagnani, Fort Collins, Colo. and Sandra (Dan) Coil, Highlands Ranch, Colo.; son, Fred (Marina) Castillo, Denver, Colo.; grandchildren, William Colton (Claudia) Rapagnani, Analeese Rose Rapagnani, Shannon (Landon) Cook, Kyler Castillo (Kami), Madison Castillo, Aniston Jo and Maxwell Coil; great-grandchildren, William Holden Rapagnani, Carter and Taber Cook, Graceleigh and Rhett Castillo. Josefina is also survived by siblings Heriberto Vasquez, Oscar Vasquez, Santos Villegas, Miguel Vasquez, Olivia Vasquez, and Flavio Vasquez.

Mass of Christian burial will take place 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Ellinwood on Saturday, Sept. 24th. Interment will follow at Lakin-Comanche Cemetery in Ellinwood, Kan. Public visitation will take place from 11 a.m.-7p.m. at Minnis Chapel in Ellinwood, Kan. on Sept. 23rd  with Altar society Rosary at 3 p.m. and Vigil service at 7 p.m. both at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to Lutheran Hospice Collier in 3210 Lutheran Parkway, Wheatridge, CO 80033.

Nacida el 10 de agosto de 1944 en México, era hija de Flavio y Rosa (Lujan ) Vásquez. Se mudó a Yuma, Colorado en 1969 y luego se mudó a Ellinwood, Kansas en agosto de 1986 y siempre consideró a Kansas como su hogar. Era ama de casa, esposa amorosa, madre y abuela y la echaremos mucho de menos. Josefina perdió a su esposo de 56 años el 23 de agosto de 2020 y se mudó a Colorado poco después debido a problemas de salud. Los sobrevivientes incluyen a sus hijas, Norma (Bill) Rapagnani, Fort Collins, Colo. y Sandra (Dan) Coil, Highlands Ranch, Colo.; hijo, Fred (Marina) Castillo, Denver, Colorado; nietos, William Colton (Claudia) Rapagnani, Analeese Rose Rapagnani, Shannon (Landon) Cook, Kyler Castillo (Kami), Madison Castillo, Aniston Jo y Maxwell Coil; bisnietos, William Holden Rapagnani, Carter y Taber Cook, Graceleigh y Rhett Castillo. A Josefina también le sobreviven los hermanos Heriberto Vasquez, Oscar Vasquez, Santos Villegas, Miguel Vasquez, Olivia Vasquez y Flavio Vasquez. La misa de entierro cristiano se llevará a cabo a las 10 a. m. en la Iglesia Católica St. Joseph, Ellinwood, el sábado 24 de septiembre. El entierro seguirá en el cementerio Lakin-Comanche en Ellinwood, Kansas. Las visitas públicas se llevarán a cabo de 11 a. m. a 6 p. m. en Minis Chapel en Ellinwood, Kansas, el 23 de septiembre con el Rosario de la Sociedad del Altar a las 3 p.m. y servicio de Rosario/Vigilia a las 7 p.m. ambos en la funeraria. Se sugieren memoriales a Lutheran Hospice Collier en 3210 Lutheran Parkway, Wheatridge, CO 80033.
