Pastor Jeffrey Frakes, 47, passed away at his home in Ellinwood, KS on June 13, 2015. He was born in Independence, MO on June 30, 1967 to Ronald K. and Joan (Burson) Frakes. Originally from the Wichita (Goddard) area he was a resident of Ellinwood for the past 8 years where he was the minister of St. John Lutheran Church.  He was also minister of Grace Lutheran Church in Lyons, KS for the past two years as well.  He previously worked as a project manager and airplane mechanic for Learjet. Jeff married Mary Spillman on July 13, 1996 in Wichita, KS. He received his Masters degree in Divinity from Concordia Seminary in St. Louis, MO. He loved motorcycles, music, firearms, and the outdoors but dedicated himself to his family and his church most of all.

Survivors include wife, Mary Frakes, Ellinwood, KS; mother, Joan Frakes (Ralph Buchanan), Independence, MO; daughters, Elizabeth Frakes, Sarah Frakes, and Emily Frakes, Ellinwood, KS; a sister, Cheri Russell, Wichita, KS; a niece, Katie Russell; and a nephew, Jacob Russell. He is preceded in death by his father, Ronald K. Frakes. 

Funeral service will be 10:00 am Wednesday June 17 at St. John Lutheran Church in Ellinwood with District President Pastor Keith Kohlmeier presiding. Burial will follow at Lakin-Comanche District Cemetery in Ellinwood. Visitation will be Tuesday, June 16 at St. John Lutheran Church from 1-7 pm with family present from 5-7 pm. Memorials are suggested to St. John Lutheran Church in Ellinwood, St. John Child Development Center in Ellinwood, or Grace Lutheran Church in Lyons in care of Minnis Chapel, Po Box 246, Ellinwood, KS 67526.
