Jean Marie (Steierl) Garner

Jean Marie Garner, 62, passed away at Ellinwood District Hospital on Sept. 11, 2024. Born Nov. 30, 1961 in Sterling, KS she was the daughter of Clifford and Vera (Cruth) Steierl. Jean graduated from Buhler HS in 1980 and later Hutchinson Community College with an Associates in Early Childhood Development. Jean worked as a caregiver for clients with special needs and for Ellinwood Packing Plant for 8 years before retirement. She married Greg Garner Aug. 20, 2010 in Great Bend, KS. Memberships include Faith Bible Church in Lyons, KS. 
Survivors include husband, Greg Garner; children, Melissa (Ryan) Doll, Timothy Welch (Mandy Stos); step-children, Veronica Wiley, Cora (Oz) Usoro, Skylar Wiley; siblings, Jane (David) Cruse and Bill Steierl; beloved Grandchildren, Brenna, Vera Kate, Raylee, Eleanor, Poppy, Nolyn, and Ezekial. Other survivors include many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents. 
The family encourages attendees to wear their favorite KU or Chiefs apparel to the service. 
Funeral Service will take place 10:00 AM, Sat., Sept. 14 at Faith Bible Church in Lyons, KS. Private family burial will follow at Lakin-Comanche Cemetery in Ellinwood. Memorials are suggested towards funeral expenses in care of Minnis Chapel, PO Box 246, Ellinwood, KS 67526.
