James "Jim" Collins

James “Jim” W. Collins, 85, passed away at Hays Medical Center on Tuesday December 20^th. He was born on May 6^th, 1931 in Watchorn, OK to Luther & Gertrude (Muselak) Collins. He was a longtime Ellinwood area resident graduating from Ellinwood High School in 1949. He worked as an Independent oil & gas producer and was owner/operator of James W. Collins Oil Operations. 

Survivors include daughter, Debbie Long (Coy), Ellinwood, KS; sons, Jerry Collins (Deborah), Edmond, OK, Terry (Dori) Collins, Ellinwood, KS; sisters, Trudy Williams, Topeka, KS, Margaret Collins, Hutchinson, KS, Patsy Moyer, Demming, NM. Other survivors include 8 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.  

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mary Ann Collins, and brother, C. Jack Collins.  

Funeral service will be 1:00 pm Monday December 26^th at Cavalry Baptist Church in Ellinwood with Pastor Jason Winget officiating. Burial will follow at Lakin-Comanche District Cemetery in Ellinwood. Visitation will be Friday December 23^rd from 4-7 pm at Minnis Chapel in Ellinwood.
