Hazel M. Scheuerman, 89, died December 23, 2015, at Great Bend Health & Rehab.  She was born February 22, 1926, at Nekoma, Kansas, the daughter of Paul and Ethel (Morgan) Swartz. 

She married Glenn C. Scheuerman on December 6, 1942, at LaCrosse, Kansas.  He was killed in a car accident on February 9, 1973. 

She was a homemaker and 61 year resident of Ellinwood before moving to Great Bend in 2008.  Hazel was noted for her homemade pies and Christmas fruitcakes.

She was a member of St John’s Lutheran Church, Ellinwood, Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Great Bend, Ladies Auxiliary VFW, Fraternal Order of the Eagles and the American Legion Auxiliary. 

Survivors include a daughter: Trella (Paul) Berscheidt, Great Bend; two sons:  Terry (Naomi) Scheuerman, Tecumseh, Oklahoma and Clifford (Lynne) Scheuerman, Great Bend; nine grandchildren:

Kim Schenk, Michael Berscheidt, Mark Foster, Teresa Foster, Jann Curtright, Becky Prewett, Chris Scheuerman, Clayton Scheuerman, Todd Scheuerman; sixteen great-grandchildren:  Craig Berscheidt,

Matt Schenk, Aaron Berscheidt, Jessica Kelly, Jason Berscheidt, Sarah Smith, Matthew Foster, Blake

Berscheidt, Tahnee Cady, Katie Prewett, Porter Oliver, Andrew Curtright, Emily, Elizabeth, Tyler and Madilyn Scheuerman; four great-great-grandchildren:  Colson Kelly, Brayleigh Foster, Hadlee Cady and

Emma Smith; brother, Roger Boese and sister, Estella Miller. 

She is preceded in death by her parents; three brothers: Henry & Bert Swartz and Wayne (Smokey) Boese; one sister: Erma Stegman.

Funeral service will be 10:30 AM Monday December 28th at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Ellinwood with Pastor Garry Dassow and Kenton Abbot officiating. Burial is scheduled for 2:00 PM that day at the Baptist Cemetery in rural Bison, KS. There will be a visitation on Sunday December 27th from 2-4 at Minnis Chapel in Ellinwood. Family will be present. Memorials are suggested to Eldercare Home Services of Great Bend or Central Kansas Association for the Visually Impaired, Great Bend in care of Minnis Chapel, 113 North Main, Ellinwood, KS 67526.
