Gloria A. Hickel, 79, passed away in Great Bend, KS on May 19th, 2018. Born on February 18th, 1939 in Great Bend, KS to Wilfred & Bertha (Koehler) Thill; she was a lifetime Ellinwood & Claflin area resident growing up in Ellinwood & moving to Claflin later in life. Gloria married Charles Hickel on February 20th, 1960 in Ellinwood. He passed away February 18th, 1979. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church & altar society, Claflin, and former member of St. Peter & Paul Church.
Survivors include sons, Thomas Hickel (Rita), Donald Hickel, James Hickel (Sheryl); daughter, Deborah Mills; brother, LeRoy Thill (Sharla); sister, Dorothy Wilson; sister in law, Gertrude Hickel. Other survivors include grandchildren; Micheal Mills, Carl Hickel, Patton Mills, Reba Kohn, Dylan Hickel, Sterling Mills, Tana YellowWolf, Dallas Mills, Brianna Hickel, Blaine Hickel and great-grandchildren; Sabrina Mills, Kaylee Mills, Paisley Mills, Cruz Mills, Charlee YellowWolf, & Sterling Mills Jr. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, brothers, Jerry & Bill Thill, granddaughter, Jackie Mills & great-grandson, Levi Kohn.
Funeral Mass will be 10:00 AM, Wednesday May 23rd at St. Peter & Paul Church north of Ellinwood, KS with Father Pascal Klein officiating. Burial will follow at St. Peter & Paul Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday, May 22nd from 1-7 PM with Rosary/Vigil service at 7 PM all at St. Peter & Paul Church. Memorials are suggested to St. Peter & Paul Heritage Association or Immaculate Conception Catholic Church altar society in care of Minnis Chapel, PO Box 246, Ellinwood, KS 67526.
