Ella Jane (Koch) Hartig

Ella Jane (Koch) Hartig, 78, passed away at Ellinwood District Hospital on August 11, 2015. She was born on October 18, 1936 in Great Bend, KS to Elmer G. & Natalie (Rube) Koch. A lifetime resident of Ellinwood she was a 1954 graduate of Ellinwood High School. She later married Herman Dale Hartig on Jan. 11, 1957 at the First Baptist Church. He died Oct. 15, 2013. She worked as a mail carrier and church secretary for the First Baptist Church. Her memberships included the Immanual United Church of Christ in Ellinwood, the Heritage Club, UCC Woman's Fellowship, and a Food Bank Volunteer.   

Survivors include daughters, Sheryl (Craig) Neeland, Great Bend, KS, Carol (Eugene) Byrd, Birmingham, AL; son, JR Hartig (Bernie), Great Bend, KS; and sister, Arline Ankerholz (Fred), Great Bend, KS. Other survivors include grandchildren, Andee Hartig, Alex Hartig, Sarah Neeland, Adam Neeland, Devan Byrd, Sydney Byrd.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and sisters, Joan McCarty & Kathryn Koch.

Funeral Service will be 10:30 am Saturday August 15 at the Immanual United Church of Christ in Ellinwood with Rev. Jennifer Fair officiating. Burial will follow at Lakin-Comanche District Cemetery in Ellinwood. There will be a visitation at Minnis Chapel in Ellinwood from 1-7 pm on Friday August 14^th with family present from 6-7 pm.
