Eleanor Catherine (Hoffman) Hines, 92, died on January 10, 2015 at Ellinwood District Hospital. She was born November 18, 1922 to Henry J. Hoffman & Teresa (Krier) Hoffman. She graduated from Great Bend HS in 1940 and married Leo M. Hines on January 21, 1941 in Great Bend. He preceded her in death on June 30, 1988.

She was the Business Manager for the couple’s plumbing business until their retirement in 1985. Eleanor was the last surviving member of the St. Rose of Lima Study Club of Ellinwood. She was a member of St. Joseph Parish, St. Joseph Legion of Mary, D of I, and the Altar Society. She was active and served as Social Director for the RCIA program at St. Joseph’s.

Survivors include daughter Joyce (Joe) Schulte of Ellinwood, Paula Sue (Robert) Biles of Great Bend, a son Daniel Michael Hines (Kathy) of Ellinwood, daughter Theresa Ann Ruyle of Ellinwood, and a sister Patricia Dirks. Other survivors include 7 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Lucille Fuhr and Lavina Carrier.

Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30 A.M on January 15, 2015 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Ellinwood with Fa. John Forkuoh presiding. Burial will follow in Lakin- Comanche District Cemetery in Ellinwood. Visitation will be on Wednesday January 14 from 2-7 P.M at Minnis Chapel with family receiving friends from 5-7 P.M. There will be a 3 P.M Rosary and and a 7 P.M Vigil Service both at Minnis Chapel in Ellinwood. Memorials are suggested to the Area Health Care Foundation or the St. Joseph’s School Endowment Fund in care of Minnis Chapel, PO Box 246, Ellinwood, KS 67526.
