Beverly A. Zimmerman, 82, passed away in Great Bend, KS on January 30th, 2022. She was born on September 8th 1939 in Ellinwood, KS to John S. and Pauline (Miller) Blehm. Bev graduated from Ellinwood High School in May of 1956, and in September of that same year married Robert M. Zimmerman at Evangelical Church in Ellinwood. After moving around while Bob was with the military, and then the oil patch, they returned to Ellinwood where Beverly was a resident for 56 years.
She worked as a secretary at Ellinwood High School, United Church of Christ, Ellinwood Hospital, and worked at Woodhaven Care Center in Ellinwood as the social service director. She owned and operated Flowers & Things floral shop for several years as well. She was a 4-H leader for a number of years, belonged to the American Legion Women’s Auxiliary, United Church of Christ Altar Guild, UCC Women’s Fellowship, and served on the UCC church board.
Survivors include her husband of 65 years Robert M. Zimmerman, sons Scott (Penny) Zimmerman of Ellinwood, Kevin (Joanie) Zimmerman of Ankeny, Iowa, daughter-in-law Tammy Zimmerman of Ellinwood, brother, Jack Blehm, Guymon, OK; grandchildren Zachary (Staci) Zimmerman of Claremore, OK, Blythe (Clinton) Reinert of Sioux City, IA, Baily Black of Phillipsburg, KS, Whitney (Luke) Hoyle of Scranton, IA, Jacob Zimmerman of Slater, IA. Great grandchildren Zoey Zimmerman, Rhett Reinert, Nashlynn Black, Ava, Allie and Aspen Hoyle, and Daxten Zimmerman. She was preceded in death by her parents and one son, Robert B. Zimmerman and sister, Donna Adams.
Graveside service and inurnment will take place at Lakin-Comanche Cemetery in Ellinwood, KS at a later date. Memorials are suggested to the Ellinwood Hospital Foundation in care of Minnis Chapel, PO Box 246, Ellinwood, KS 67526.
