Beth Overturf Bryant Meyeres, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away on January 24, 2026, after a brief battle with cancer. Born on August 12, 1941, in the small community of St. Francis, Kansas, Beth was the cherished daughter of the late Elbert "Tiny" Overturf and Helen Waters Overturf. She leaves behind a legacy of love, and dedication that touched the lives of many.
Beth's life was one of service and care. After graduating from St. Luke's Hospital School of Nursing in 1963, she embarked on a career, beginning at KU Medical Center. She returned to St. Francis, where she served at the local hospital for a short time, until GPHA asked her to take the job as the Hospital Administrator for Ellinwood Hospital. Beth held this position with dedication for nine years before choosing to resign, prioritizing time with family.
In her personal life, Beth was blessed with two loving marriages. In 1969, she married Harry Bryant, with whom she shared 12 cherished years until his untimely passing in 1982. Together, they welcomed a daughter Renee. Later, in 1997, Beth found love again with Norman Meyeres. Their union brought joy and companionship until Norman's passing in 2002.
Beth's role as a mother and "Grammie" was one she cherished above all else. She is survived by her daughter, Renee Borden, and her husband, Patrick, her grandsons, Tyler Borden with his wife, Simone, and Colin Borden with his fiancée, Meagon. Beth is also survived by her sister, Joyce Moore, and her niece, Krista Huscher.
A dedicated member of her community, Beth was actively involved in the hospital auxiliary and the American Legion women's auxiliary, where her leadership and generosity of spirit were deeply valued.
Beth's passing leaves a profound void, but her memory will be cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing her. A service to celebrate her life will be held on May 30, 2026, at 1:00 PM at Lakin Comanche Cemetery, Ellinwood, KS where family and friends can gather to honor her life. Rev. Kenton Abbott will officiate. Memorials are suggested to Donors Choice in care of Minnis Chapel, PO Box 246, Ellinwood, KS.
