Abel Eugene Hamby

Abel Eugene Hamby, 61, passed away at Kansas Wesley Hospital in Wichita, KS on January 31, 2025. Born on April 18, 1963 in Ellinwood, KS to parents John Ray & Karen Arlene (Frank) Hamby. He was a 1981 graduate of Ellinwood High School. Main residences were Attica and Ellinwood, Kansas. In addition to a lifetime of working in the oil field Abel also worked as a police officer in the 80s and truck driver. 

Survivors include children, Todd Hamby (Sarah Fox), Ellinwood, KS, Kenny Hamby (Kathleen Bush), Ellinwood, KS, Cassie Hamby (James Midgard) Salina, KS, Jerry (Kimberly ) Hamby, Meadville, PA; siblings, Elva Mitchell, Ellinwood, KS, Connie (Jack) Jenks, Ellinwood, KS, Kevin (Jennifer) Hamby, Great Bend, KS and mother, Karen Arlene (Frank) Hamby, Ellinwood, KS. Other survivors include 9 grandchildren, numerous Nieces/Nephews, Great Nieces/Nephews, Aunts, Uncles, and Cousins. He was preceded in death by Father John Ray Hamby. 

Family will receive friends from 5-7 PM at Minnis Chapel on Saturday, February 15th. Inurnment will take place Sunday, February 16th at 10 AM at Lakin-Comanche Cemetery in Ellinwood, KS. Memorial are suggested to Funeral Expenses in care of Minnis Chapel, PO Box 246, Ellinwood, KS 67526.
