Joan Breford Obituary

Joan Marie Breford, 87, passed away Sept. 28, 2019 at Good Samaritan Center in Lyons, KS. Born on February 28, 1932 she was the daughter of Christopher & Emma (Feist) Stumps. After high school she earned a B.A. in music from Marymount College.
Mrs. Breford was a lifetime resident of Holyrood, KS where she taught music and played the organ for 66 years at St. Mary Catholic Church. In addition she played the organ for 30 + years at Immaculate Conception Church in Claflin, KS.
Survivors include children, Mark Breford, Holyrood, KS, Matt Breford, Lawrence, KS, Brenda Hekele, Claflin, KS, Teresa Konda, Lyons, KS; brother, Jerome Stumps, Downey, CA. Other survivors include grandchildren, Andrea Jessup, Aaron Hekele, Kristyn Similton, Lynn Swafford, Carolyn Rolo, Morgan Travis, Megan Khalidi, Janae Garner, Ryanne Hekele, Cameron Hekele, Tyler Konda, Matthew Konda, and Rebecca Konda.
Joan was preceded in death by siblings, Edward Stumps, Eleanor Huing, Anges Warlop, Delores Emmerich, Teresa Shipley, Walter Stumps, & Leo Stumps.
A private Mass of Christian Burial has taken place. Memorials are suggested to Benedictine Monks of Skyler, NE and Prolife in care of Minnis Chapel, PO Box 246, Ellinwood, KS 67526. Condolences to the family may be posted at www.minnischapel.org
