Christine Lee (Chatfield) Owens

Christine Lee Owens, 69, passed away on July 18, 2018 at Woodhaven Care Center in Ellinwood, KS where she was extremely grateful for 18 years of excellent care. Christine was born on January 12, 1949 in Goodland, KS, the daughter of Oliver Dale & Dixie Leola Chatfield (Sparks). She graduated from Goodland High School in 1967 and later married Robert Owens at Goodland United Methodist Church on January 19, 1969. In addition to being a homemaker and mother, Mrs. Owens worked as a cake baker/decorator and taught preschool. Her memberships include St. Peter Lutheran Church in Holyrood, KS where she invested her time in everything from Sunday school to Vacation Bible school. Former memberships include Daughters of the American Revolution and Order of the Eastern Star. She was also active in the Bushton PRIDE organization.

Survivors include husband, Robert Owens; son, Howard Dale Owens (Jennifer); daughters, Jatandra Birney and Miranda Carmona (Thomas). Other survivors include sister, Cora House (Harlan) and 7 grandchildren, Ethan, Morganne, Madison, Lydia, & Gwendolyn Owens and Thomas (TL), & Lucina Carmona. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral service will be 10:30 AM, Saturday, July 28, 2018 at St. Peter Lutheran Church, Holyrood, KS with Rev. Daniel Harders presiding. Burial will take place at Goodland Municipal Cemetery, Saturday, July 28, 2018 at 5 PM (MST). Visitation will be Saturday, July 28 at St. Peter Lutheran Church from 9AM-10:30 AM. Memorials are suggested to St. Peter Lutheran Church or National Multiple Sclerosis Society in care of Minnis Chapel, PO Box 246, Ellinwood, KS 67526.
